New Jersey Legislator, Says Issue Unresolved

Assemblyman Anthony Bucco (R-Boonton) said a speech Tuesday by birther advocate Jerome Corsi in Morristown -- coordinated by Tea Party activists and endorsed by the Morris County Republican Party -- left him in doubt over whether Obama is currently a citizen and the authenticity of the birth certificate the White House released last year. Bucco said the information presented came from Corsi's new book, "Where's the Birth Certificate?"
"I haven't really dug down deep, there was some important points raised," Bucco said of the birth certificate issue and Corsi's speech.
During his speech, Corsi said his research showed forgeries in the birth certificate released by Obama and in other records that Obama released. The evidence shows "the noose is tightening for Obama," said Corsi.
Bucco said it is not his place to determine whether or not Obama is a citizen. "I am not in a position to say what he put up on screen is demonstrative of evidence; that is for the court of law," Bucco told HuffPost. "This issue has not resolved itself. It won't until some higher authority is involved."
Bucco has not reviewed the documents Obama released in 2011 in light of Donald Trump's calls for an original copy of the Obama birth certificate to be released by Hawaii officials. He said because he had not researched the material, he did not know if it was the original or a copy.

Oh really Mr Bucco? The type of investigation you are taking about takes about six months or more to ramp-up into action. Hopefully they can begin by November 5, the day before the election. That will give the voters come assurance that Obama is legit or not.

I am a constituent of Mr. Bucco in NJ and this won't help his career. The so-called Birther Movement is a movement of crackpots and no speech will change that.
Mr. Corsi employs "Logic" that would be laughed out of court. This issue has been settled and debunked many times. The fact that some people still believe that Obama was born in Kenya -- or is it Saturn -- gives credence to the view there are some people who will believe just about anything if it fits their political mindset.
The ironic thing is that the longer the nut cases of the far right continue to talk about this, the more it helps Obama's reelection. That's because it marginalizes a chunk of the GOP as a bunch of ignorant fools.

And given that Obama is so certain you can’t remember what happened just two years ago, he is more than certain that you have never heard of the ancient history of Marbury v. Madison, where the 14-year old Supreme Court in 1803 took the then unprecedented step of overturning a provision of law adopted by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress, in the Judiciary Act of 1789. That case was where the Supreme Court first recognized its power of judicial review, under which it is empowered to strike down laws found unconstitutional. As the Wall Street Journal observed on Tuesday:
“In the 209 years since, the Supreme Court has invalidated part or all of countless laws on grounds that they violated the Constitution. All of these laws were passed by a ‘democratically elected’ legislature of some kind, either Congress or in one of the states. And no doubt many of them were passed by ‘strong’ majorities….probably stronger majorities than passed the Affordable Care Act.”

The full attack began by the NJ newspaper Star Ledger denouncing Republicans and Dr. Corsi. Editorial was never signed but comments to editorial online at nj.com were scrubbed when newspaper realized vast majority of readers questioned Obama's eligibility. Republicans are usually timid on this issue and I don't expect a repeat performance between now and November. However, the Sheriff may be the exception until the DOJ visits his office.
