6 in 10 Arizona Voters Support Proof-of-Eligibility Legislation for Presidential Candidates

6 in 10 want to know candidates' eligibility
Interest in issue surges as Obama campaigns
Bob Unruh @ WND

Just as Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign is hitting high gear, a new poll indicates that a strong majority of Arizona voters want affidavits from presidential candidates affirming their eligibility.

The results are from the Arizona State University-based Morrison Institute for Public Policy.

The poll shows 6 of 10 Arizona voters “would support a ‘birther bill’ requiring presidential candidates to sign an affidavit affirming they are American citizens.”

“Support is highest among registered Republicans (76 percent support the idea) while 58 percent of Democrats oppose it,” said the Morrison Institute’s report of the poll results, which were released Thursday.

“The legislature passed the bill I 2011, but the governor vetoed it, saying that such a law ‘could lead to arbitrary or politically motivated decisions,” the report said.

Sign the petition now to show members of Congress just how many Americans demand constitutional integrity.

The poll asked: “How about the so-called ‘birther bill’ that would require presidential candidates to come to sign an affidavit that they are an American citizen?”

Thirty-four percent strongly supported the idea; another 26 percent supported it and 11 percent opposed it. Twenty-five percent strongly opposed it and 4 percent were uncertain.

IT's "NATURAL BORN CITIZEN"!!! NOT AMERICAN CITIZEN!!! Stupid people!!!

This poll just pushes the idea that being a citizen is good enough.

And only 6 in 10 support requiring proof of being a citizen at all, let alone the constitutionally required natural born citizen?

It might be even worse than I thought it was.

They still don't get it. It says:

The poll asked: “How about the so-called ‘birther bill’ that would require presidential candidates to come to sign an affidavit that they are an American citizen?”

How about the poll switch American citizen to American natural born citizen? Jeez!!!

There you have it folks. The numbers speak. Why wouldn't 100% of the voting public of this Republic desire to confirm adherence to our Constitution? Are you kidding? One third (by this article survey)want confirmation of eligibility for the highest office in the world?

OK, the mental dereliction is sliding. No doubt about that. Let's use the same standard for your heart surgeon, or doctor, or jet pilot. No proof required of their past, their qualifications or education. Take it on their word only. Fair enough? Now be the one to go under the knife, sit in row 7a on your next flight and say with all those who agree it is not necessary to vet my doctor, pilot, lawyer, or putative president barry soetero.

...sign an affidavit affirming they are American citizens...

Huh? Are you kidding me? So fucking what?

Barry's been lying his ass of his entire life. Does anybody really think he wouldn't do the same thing in an affidavit?

Unbelievable. Because of the birthright citizenship interpretation of the 14th amendment, a child of illegal aliens would be eligible for president, or even the child of a member of the Taliban.

What don't people understand about the difference between citizen and natural born citizen?

What's even worse is that the title of the article is not even correct. How about a title that says something like this. "Misinformed poll asks if a presidential candidate should prove he is a citizen."

Many university-based public policy institutes employ graduate students in the survey design process. Question wording can skewer results, and this particular question is very poorly worded.

A better wording would have been something along the lines of:

"Do you favor or oppose legislation that would require presidential candidates to show certified proof of natural born citizenship status as set forth in Article II of the US Constitution?"

One major problem is that many schools no longer include the Constituion in their high school curriculum (thanks to liberals), and at the university level clueless political science students are taught by progressive professors who only have contempt for it.

Question order is also important. Knowing what question was asked before this question might also show prejudicial priming. As it is the use of the highly charged word "birther" makes these results worthless.

You are of course correct .... it is "natural" born citizen.

But remember that Obama is indeed NOT even an "American" (citizen).

Note that I fully agree that this either an accidental or purposeful attempt to equate Natural-Born with Native-Born.

Good points all.

I am dismayed that only 80% of Republicans support proof.

But am ALARMED 60% of Democrats do not (but not "surprised").

It is amazing how quickly things have changed so fast.

It was not so long ago that Arnold Swartzeniger became governor of California with a clamor for him to next be POTUS.

He was a "citizen"- but well recognized not "Natural Born".

By this poll's word-choice of American CITIZEN, he would be eligible.

(And so would ORLY - who would BTW not be bad as I am an Orly supporter.)

You are right that he is a pathological LIAR about almost EVERYTHING he says, including his life-story and birthplace.

However he is very carefully to not lie under oath.

EXAMPLE: He was carefull to not actually "hold" his bc when presented on April 27,'11. That dirty work was done for him by his attorney and press-secretary.

And he has won some of the eligibility attacks because he (Obama) himself did not personally sign some of the critical documents/applications.

Even more important is the AZ Governor Brewer FAILED to sign a bill passed by both senate and house in AZ requiring candidates to prove eligibility to be placed on the presidential ballot. Her refusal is grounds for removal. Brewer could have stopped Obama, her reward was the Obama attack at the airport because he knew she was weak at the knees.

If I'm not mistaken, for the 2008 election Obama submitted a signed affidavit to Arizona's Secretary of State (current AZ Governor Janice Brewer) swearing he was a "natural born citizen". Obviously a sworn affidavit isn't enough.

It's probably too late here in Arizona anyway. A court has already ruled that the Usurper is eligible to be on the state ballot and that the Usurper IS a natural born citizen AND that Minor v Happersett did not rule otherwise.

Allen v. Obama et al, No. C20121317 (Ariz. Pima County Super. Ct., Mar. 7, 2012) (dismissing case challenging Obama’s eligibility to be on the 2012 ballot; finding that Obama is a “natural born citizen” under Wong Kim Ark; and expressly rejecting argument that Minor v. Happersett holds otherwise).
The decision in Allen v Obama is being appealed to the Arizona Appeals Court, but who knows when it will be heard.

In 2008, Barack Obama signed an Arizona
"Presidential Preference Election Candidate Nomination Paper," a notarized official document of the state of Arizona stating that he was "a natural born citizen of the United States."
Here's a link to a scan of that document:

@RacerJim
Yeah and Nixon said he wasn't a crook and Slick Willy swore he didn't have sex with Monica.

Politicians on both side lie all the time. We should have copies of original documents or access to them. For something as important as the US presidency, nothing else should do.

Indeed fuck this bill that calls only for a candidate to attest that he is an American citizen rather than a natural born citizen. Furthermore, fuck this bill that asks for such a candidate to make this assertion without providing proof. What are some folks thinking? Do they think an asshole like Obama is going to tell the truth when he has been nothing but a big, fucking liar all along?

Anonymous said...[Reply]

@Anonymous
Obama would just submit copies of his short form COLB.

jh4freedom said...[Reply]

@Anonymous
If a candidate signs an official statement attesting to being a natural born citizen, that opens them up to a lawsuit if it can be proven that the statement they signed is a lie.
Other candidates running against that candidate have standing to sue because they can show injury from the false assertion.

"DECEPTION FATIGUE"

By John Griffing
May 15, 2012

Excerpt:

"Over the past three years, pResident Obama has demonstrated his willingness to lie about anything and everything if it leads to the acquisition and retention of maximum power for himself and his cohorts. Obama follows a pattern of overloading the system with deception, making responses to every individual distortion impractical or outright impossible. While Obama's opponents spend their precious time addressing each new lie, Obama keeps the focus off the end-zone, and seizures of power previously unthinkable are accomplished."

[...]

"Obama lies about everything. Opposition to taxpayer-funded birth control and government-mandated funding of abortion by churches is depicted as a "war on women." This from the president who last Ramadan praised the idea of hijabs and niqabs as defenses against male lust. Obama's lies are so pervasive that listing them all requires data-mining, so, for efficiency, those interested in a somewhat thorough catalog of Obama's lies may follow this link.

Obama is clever, and he is manipulative. He will often avoid the direct approach and will instead opt for insinuation and implication -- e.g., when he stood before Congress at the 2010 State of the Union shortly before the narrow passage of his majority-opposed health care reform bill and intimated that if Republicans would merely provide alternatives to his reform proposal, he would look at them. This statement carries the implication that Republicans had no alternative reform proposals and were merely taking cheap shots at the president's "perfect" plan. But Republicans had in fact provided numerous alternatives, none of which pResident Obama would acknowledge or give the time of day.

Similarly, when observers challenge Obama's power-grabs, Obama utilizes redirection and name-calling to divert public attention from his massive constitutional overreach.

He will accuse Republicans of "dividing" instead of "uniting" or, worse, release ads tarring anyone who opposes government expansion at the expense of liberty as "the mob."

A sitting pResident of the United States referring to his fellow citizens as a "mob" is unprecedented in American history and would likely not be tolerated if the pResident hadn't neutralized all criticism by branding it 'racist.'"

Here is a simple question no one asks. Why has no one mentioned DNA in
reference to Obama. It can be gotten from a water glass. I'm sure it
has been used by many powerful groups, who just can not stand not knowing.

So if they all know how come no one else dose? Or is it they simply
cannot admit they know?
