Few people are as publicly identified with the so-called “birther” issue as Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has his own “posse” on the case.
Last weekend, Arpaio shared his skepticism about President Barack Obama’s birthplace – and his eligibility for the White House – when he was in Charlotte campaigning for Republican congressional candidate Jim Pendergraph.
So what does Pendergraph, and for that matter other 9th District candidates, think of Obama’s legitimacy?
“I have reason to be suspicious,” he said. “But I don’t know. I haven’t seen the facts. I think there’s a lot of smoke and generally when there’s smoke there’s got to be fire somewhere.”

GOP candidate loses backing over Obama birth claims

A congressional candidate who cast doubts about President Obama's birth certificate has lost the support of the major newspaper in his district.
The Charlotte Observer has rescinded its endorsement of Republican Jim Pendergraph, a leading candidate seeking to replace retiring Rep. Sue Myrick , R-N.C.
Pendergraph, a former Mecklenburg County sheriff, fell out of favor with the newspaper when he sided with Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has investigated the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate.

I'm not sure if these types of comments are actually Obots in 'birther' clothing or what. Why would you be upset at the only people speaking out on this issue and trying to do something? Why are you angry with Sheriff Joe? He is trying to make the media pay attention to this issue. There is no place he can take this because no court or SOS wants anything to do with it. Observe that the race of President Obama’s father is entered on the birth certificate as “African.” This entry would never have been made in 1961. Anyone above adolescence in1961will remember that the race of a black man was officially “Negro.”
An official experienced in filling out certificates of this nature on a daily basis would not have made this mistake. African is not a race; it is a continental designation in the same manner as European. Blacks are not the only Africans. White Africans and a litany of other races exist on the African continent.
It has only been in recent years that the designation “Negro” has become offensive to some. Hence, “African” was entered by someone sensitive to modern conventions and unfamiliar with this historical fact.
This alone should be reason enough to question the legitimacy of Obama’s birth certificate.
