"DC government stinks to high heaven. We know DC lawmakers are certainly not “bullet proof” to corruption but it’s disturbing they think they can engage in criminal behavior without retribution. DC Council Chairman Kwame Brown became the second member of the body forced to resign from office in disgrace this year on the heels of council member Harry Thomas’ resignation and conviction.
When news broke of Brown’s conviction charge on bank fraud, no one was surprised except Mayor Vincent Gray because DC residents have come to expect the lowest common denominators to serve us in government. Mayor Vincent Gray tweeted: “I’m shocked, disappointed & saddened by today's news; I served alongside Mr. Brown on Council & never would've imagined something like this.”
I doubt Gray was shocked in the least because he knows the culture of entitlement pervading DC government and the council in particular. He also knows the US Attorney’s office is investigating some alleged shady dealings by Gray and his 2010 mayoral campaign staff. My mother always says, “things happen in threes” both good and bad things. So, DC residents could see more convicted felons falling from our government ranks.
Kwame Brown was convicted of bank fraud for overstating his income so he could secure a home equity loan to buy a boat he ironically christened “Bullet Proof.” Brown was also charged with violating DC campaign laws by making expenditures in cash over $50. The US Attorney’s office year long investigation also found Brown’s 2008 campaign failed to report $270,000 in funds campaign and discovered another $239,000 was diverted to a company run by his brother. Like Brown, Harry Thomas thought he was entitled to do as he pleased once he became an elected DC official and stole $350,000 from DC taxpayers.
A real indication of how “lost in arrogant space” Brown was can be seen in his resignation letter. Instead of apologizing profusely to DC voters whom he serves at the pleasure of and to whom he must hold himself accountable, Brown offered an "unconditional apology to the members of the Council for all the negative attention that my conduct has brought about." What’s revealing in this statement is Brown like many members of the council think they are more beholden to each other than the people they serve and this is where in the problem lies.
What’s disturbing is once elected, DC lawmakers seem to think they are immune to the laws of the land and more importantly standards of ethics and decency to which elected officials should feel compelled to adhere. Equally repugnant, it seems the only thing Kwame Brown and Harry Thomas knew how to do well was run for public office and be “third rate petty crooks, liars and hypocrites,” as Washington Post columnist Colbert King described. Because neither knew what else to do but abuse their political power, both clung to their positions until the bitter end, only resigning when the heat of the law was poised to come down on them like a guillotine."

“District residents need to raise the bar on our elected officials and stop voting bombastic buffoons into office. We should start by changing the elections laws in the Democrat dominated District of Columbia to allow for open primaries where all voters regardless of political party can vote. This would encourage greater voter turnout and more non-Democrat candidates to run for office because the primary races truly would be competitive and open, separating the wheat from the chafe. In other words candidates would have to have their act together because independents, Republicans and every other non-Democrat vote would count.
Voters also need to expand their political viewpoint and stop blindly voting for Democrats. There is no political diversity on the DC Council. It is a body of Democrats. With all the scandals and more on the horizon, I think it’s time for DC residents to try something new and give Republican candidates running for office serious consideration. Why not? What do DC residents have to lose? Nothing could be worse than the crop of Donkeys we’ve got, making asses of us all."

I am SICK AND TIRED of these DC and Esablishment Elites trying to change our Constiution. There are plenty of qualified Republican candidates who would be more than acceptable. If Romney picks Rubio for VP, I and MANY people I know will boycott the 2012 election. I would just as soon roll the dice on Obama being thrown out for fraud in the second term as I would support the Republican party in breaking the same laws Obama has.
Anyone know for sure if Romney's Dad was a U.S. citizen before little Mitt was born??

The Supreme Court has the blood of this country on its hands for not removing the Illegal Communist Usurper in our W.H.
Their refusal to do their job in most instances would be cause for their dismissal however once the Supremes are in, they stay in until they step down. In this case they should all be removed for high crimes and treason against the United States of America.
As for any VP picks Rubio or Jindal are not eligible to serve under our Constitution, as they are not Natural Born Citizens, just like Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen.

Like Neville Chamberlain the Supreme Court and powers to be in Wash DC think that they are preventing blood in the streets by not addressing the constitutional ineligibility of the Saul Alinsky bully Obama and his criminal identity fraud since they are reacting to veiled threats circulating in DC's corridors that there would be violence in 100 cities if Obama is removed, since Obama would not leave without stirring up violence on a racial basis in order to try to cling to power. Now they all have so much skin in the game to protect their own butts being part of the coverup and fraud that they will use any excuse to not do the write thing, hold congressional inquiries and hearings about Obama's true legal identity, uphold the Constitution, and remove the usurper, fraud and criminal ID thief from the Oval Office. In the end the system's failure to face down a fraud and bully Marxist regime and its enablers in the major media, the resolution of things in the long run will get worse before it gets any better, because of their cowardice to address it early on.

“The House Oversight Committee led by Chairman Darrell Issa will vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt over Fast and Furious stonewalling on June 20. The vote comes after Issa offered to dismiss the charges so long as Holder complied with an October 2011 Congressional subpoena. Holder has failed to do so. The charges will require a majority vote to pass out of the committee and then will be brought to the House floor for a vote; Speaker Boehner is on board. Chairman Issa’s statement:

“The Justice Department is out of excuses. Congress has given Attorney General Holder more than enough time to fully cooperate with its investigation into ‘Fast and Furious,’ and to help uncover the circumstances regarding the death of Border Agent Brian Terry. Agent Terry’s family, the whistleblowers who brought this issue to light, and the American people deserve answers. Either the Justice Department turns over the information requested, or Congress will have no choice but to move forward with holding the Attorney General in contempt for obstructing an ongoing investigation.”
For some context, this is only the fourth time in three decades Congress has proceeded with contempt charges against an executive branch official.
UPDATE: Statement from Senator Grassley, who was the first in Congress to launch an investigation into Operation Fast and Furious.
“This action is straightforward and necessary. Contempt is the only tool Congress has to enforce a subpoena. The Department of Justice can avoid the action by complying with its legal obligation. It’s not about personalities. It’s a procedural mechanism in our system of checks and balances. If Congress is afraid to pursue answers to questions, it’s not doing its job. People deserve transparency from their government. Transparency leads to the truth about what’s going on. It puts people in a position to defend their rights. It protects our freedoms.
The only constitutionally viable exception to the Department of Justice’s obligation under the subpoena would be executive privilege. The President hasn’t asserted that privilege, presumably because the vast majority of the documents at issue aren’t related to communications with the White House. Because the documents don’t fit the category of executive privilege, the department is obligated to turn over the documents. To date, the Department of Justice has refused even to provide a privileged log describing what it wants to withhold and why. The House committee can’t make a judgment about whether there are valid arguments for withholding documents if the department refuses to provide such a log. That kind of fundamental refusal to even participate in any sort of a process of negotiation is what forced the House committee to move toward contempt to require the Justice Department to respond in a meaningful way.”

"Texas Senator John Cornyn pulled no punches today during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing where he called for Attorney General Eric Holder to resign immediately. Cornyn's call comes as the House Oversight Committee readies a vote on contempt charges against Holder next week for his ongoing stonewalling of the Fast and Furious investigation.
“You won’t tell the truth about what you knew and when you knew it,” Cornyn said. "It is my sincere hope President Obama will replace you.”
Holder quickly shot back saying, "I have no intention of resigning" and that President Obama has "full confidence" in him and how he has handled the Fast and Furious scandal.
